Want it NOW Fall Edition: Part 3

Number 9 on my want it now list are boots. Not just any boots though...

We all need a pair of flat boots in rich COGNAC!! I am obsessed with this particular color because it lends itself to so many ensembles. You can pair it with black, brown and a host of other colors because of it's rich orange undertone.

First up is the Inragee from Steve Madden. Sleek, simple covered sliver wedge boot.
Right now Baker's is running a $20 off all flat boots promo..Get the Izzy here for $129.99
Another note worthy boot trend is fringe..I am liking the Innka by SM!
Check out Corso Como's Sade riding boot at nordstrom.com

I just spoke with my shoe insider Kell a few hours ago about my quest to find a cognac suede boot. Then I stumbled upon this shoe below..I am tooting to Urban Outfitters tomorrow to get a pair!! Yesss

Now that you've found the perfect pair of cognac boots, mix and match the add ons for a few basic looks!

Disclaimer: Shana B. and LC don't condone wearing your boots, matching bag and belt at the same time ;-)

Want it NOW Fall Edition: Part 2

So I was tooting on Victoria's Secret this afternoon and found more inspiration for my want it now for Fall series... Ruffle front blouses and pencil skirts anyone!? Ruffles add instant femininity to any outfit. While pencil skirts are oh so sleek!

Check out this silk ruffle front top here! So fresh and flirty. Wear it with a pencil skirt or make it casual with a pair of skinny jeans..Love it!

I love this plaid ruffle front shirt paired with the Blue London high waist denim pencil skirt. Click here to check it out!

Not sure if pencil skirts are right for you? Remember the two F's:Fabric and Foundation

Fabric:

Ponte knit and Cotton interlock provide the most give. While wool blends and polyester/spandex primarily used in suiting will probably have a little less give.

Foundation:

A little light shaping and smoothing go a long way under form fitting clothes... I think all my readers should invest in a young panty girdle :-)

Top pick: The Power Panty by Spanx. I have several friends that swear by this. It is a far cry from Grandma's girdle in that it feels more like hosiery. It gives you a smooth look underneath your clothes with out showing through.

Penny pincher option: Assets Sensation Shaper. Only $20 at Target

Looks like our Want it NOW list is growing!Let's recap:

1 Layers at the neck
2 Motorcycle jacket
3 Colorful pumps
4 Skinny belts
5 Rich hair color
6 Ruffle front top
7 Pencil skirts
8 Shaping

Fashion 201: White After Labor Day?

I know we have all heard the old adage "no white after labor day." In an attempt to track down the source of this rule, I went on a young internet search. I couldn't find a concrete source as to where the "rule" originated. Some argue this rule came about because of temperature while others suggest it stems from a class issue.

While the origin is up for debate, Ask Yahoo offered up the following explanation as to what the rule includes:

Originally, the rule was more along the lines of "Only wear white shoes between Memorial Day and Labor Day." Furthermore, it mainly applied to white pumps or dress shoes. White tennis shoes and off-white boots seem exempt, as are any shoes worn by a winter bride. "Winter white" clothing (e.g., cream-colored wool) is acceptable between Labor Day and Memorial Day too.

Readers SOUND OFF!
What do you think of the no white after labor day rule?

A. I wear white whenever I want!
B. Wearing white is fine as long as it is does not read summer.
C. White shoes are for nurses, majorettes and communion Sunday only!
